Firefighter/EMT Thomas G. Stewart, III

Tommy was a friend to all who knew him.  He was an entrepreneur that had many interests that helped to supplement his paid firefighter’s salary.  He enjoyed his businesses Tom Stewart, III Remodeling and Tropical Illusions.   And he will always be remembered for his kindness, positive mood and the smile in his eyes!
Tommy took his job as a Firefighter/EMT with the Gloucester City Fire Department very seriously.
On July 3, 2002, Tommy climbed the ladder of the fire truck at the Gloucester City fireworks and proposed to his girlfriend (and mother of their one –year old son Nicholas), Danielle Ruggierio.   She said “Yes!”  And five hours later, he was gone, forever!
Not only did Danielle have to deal with the emotional loss of the love of her life and father of her child, a whole realm of legal problems arose…..they were engaged, not married, and that changed everything regarding any financial assistance she could receive.   This forced her to put her educational goals on hold and provide for her and Nicholas.   Thankfully Danielle was able to keep Nicholas in their home.
As a young boy Nicholas asked for his Daddy.    Today, he is very much like his Dad….positive, funny and kind!   Danielle credits her large and extended family, especially Tommy’s parents Tom and Maryann, for getting her through such a difficult time in their lives!

Tommy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him…especially his family.  He would be very proud of Danielle for raising Nicholas to be the great kid he is!
